The Hancock Horizontal Hundred didn't happen by accident. Behind every well-marked route, every stocked rest stop, and every smooth September ride was a group of volunteers who made cycling a priority in Findlay, Ohio for more than half a century.
More Than a Ride
The HHBC was a full-service cycling club. They organized rides for adults and children, partnered with the Findlay Police Department on “Bikes, Books and Badges,” and advocated for cycling infrastructure in Hancock County. And every year, they put on the HHH.
Mick Gould and the Bicycling Fund
Among the club's leaders, Mick Gould served as both HHBC President and HHH Tour Director. In 2006, Gould established the Hancock Parks Bicycling Fund through the Findlay Hancock County Community Foundation — a fund dedicated to bicycle trails, safety classes, and recreation programs. It remains active today.
Closing the Chapter
On December 31, 2020, the Hancock Handlebars Bicycle Club permanently closed. All remaining funds were donated to the Hancock Parks Bicycling Fund.
The Legacy Continues
The HHH Legacy Leaderboard tracks lifetime miles going back to 1974. If you were part of the Hancock Handlebars — as a rider, a volunteer, or an organizer — thank you. What you built lasted fifty years and is still rolling.
