Ask a long-time HHH rider what they remember most and they probably won't talk about their average speed. They'll talk about the pancakes.
The Patch
For years, registered HHH riders received a commemorative patch. At the 2018 event, patches were available for the first 1,000 registrants — a detail that tells you how many riders they expected and how much the keepsake mattered.
Chris Cakes and the Pancake Breakfast
One of the most remembered HHH traditions was the pre-ride pancake breakfast served by Chris Cakes on Sunday morning — pancakes flipped through the air and caught on plates, served fast and hot to hundreds of hungry cyclists.
The Ice Cream Social
The evening before the ride, the HHH hosted an ice cream social — a chance to pick up materials, meet other cyclists, and settle pre-ride nerves.
Rest Stops That Actually Helped
The HHH was known for rest stops stocked with food, water, and friendly volunteers every 15–20 miles. SAG vehicles patrolled the route. The finish line offered certificates of completion and complimentary ice cream.
For 2026, the post-ride party moves to False Chord Brewing in Findlay. Some traditions evolve. The good ones stay.
