When the Hancock Handlebars Bicycle Club permanently closed on December 31, 2020, it looked like the Hancock Horizontal Hundred might be over for good.
“A lot of the founding members were getting up there in age and it was a lot to handle,” Brandon Glomski explained to the Review Times.
The HHH sat idle from 2020 through 2024. Five years. The longest gap in the event's history.
A New Steward
Making Miles Matter Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Findlay, Ohio. The organization focuses on cycling access, safety, and community wellness throughout Northwest Ohio. But the HHH was always the anchor.
The 51st Edition
In September 2025, the HHH returned as the 51st edition. Two hundred and two riders showed up. That's a fraction of the 1,000+ riders the event drew at its peak. But for a revival year, organized by a new nonprofit — 202 was a real start.
More than half the paid riders chose the century or metric century. The appetite for distance riding on flat roads is still there.
Building from 202
The 52nd Annual HHH is scheduled for September 12, 2026, with a goal of 400 riders. The long-term goal: bring the ride back to its historic levels.
The roads haven't changed. The ride is still flat. And the HHH is back.
